I think we made this game in 2 months.
My recollection is that the team was slap happy throughout production. I'm pretty sure the whole studio pitched in to make this game happen.
It's all a blur.
I recall animating thugs. Quickly.
I recall a general sense of excitement about the opportunity to work with Marvel. We viewed this as our opportunity to get our foot in the door for more projects in the future.
I also recall an underlying sense of dread that the movie might be bad, and that the game might be worse because we had so little time to make it.
But hey, we got "Griptonite" into the game as graffiti, so that was cool!
One of the greatest things to come out of this product was watching a video interview with Ben Affleck playing the game.
BEN AFFLECK WAS PLAYING OUR GAME!
He seemed to be enjoying it - though, it seemed more about the novelty of seeing "himself" in the game than the game being any fun. Besides, it was a promotional video, he had to make sure he helped sell as many copies as possible.
At the end of the interview, Ben Affleck looked off camera to someone and shouted out -
"Hey, break me off one of these!" - Ben Affleck
Here was this movie star, asking to get a free copy of the game! If I recall correctly, the people who MADE the game didn’t even get a free copy!
Needless to say, "Hey, break me off one of those" became a frequent saying in the halls of Griptonite.
